iGevalt is a 3D dreidel simulator for Hanukkah.

A dreidel is a four-sided spinning top, played with during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah (also spelled Chanukkah, Chanukah, and Hanukah). Each side of the dreidel has a letter of the Hebrew alphabet:

נ (Nun)

ג (Gimel)

ה (Hei)

ש (Shin)

Together, these form the acronym for

"נס גדול היה שם" (Nes Gadol Haya Sham). This translates to "a great miracle happened there".

These letters also form a mnemonic for the rules of the game played with a dreidel: Nun stands for the Yiddish word nite ("nothing"), Hei stands for halb ("half"), Gimel for gants ("all"), and Shin for shteln ("put").

Dreidel in Yiddish is written as

or using Roman characters: dreydl

This app is a simple simulator of the dreidel itself. You can spin the dreidel with a swipe of your finger, or by using two fingers and "spinning" it. When it lands, a popup will appear that shows you what you got and what to do when you're playing the game. There are real sounds of kids playing right along with you!

Happy Chanukah and have some fun!

It's a miracle app!

This app is really great for keeping the kids occupied for a little while. The graphics are great, the interface is simple, and I love the kiddy commentary with each spin!

Okay App

This app has okay animation, but it doesn't let you enter names and doesn't keep track of the score for you. All it does is replace the a physical dreidel. I've downloaded all the dreidels, and there's several that do what iGevalt does for free. Only two dreidel apps seem to do the game for you, "A Dreidel Game" and "Super Dreidel." And "A Dreidel Game" only has two players, while "Super Dreidel" has 2 to 8 players.

I also don't like the sound effects on this app, and the spin time seems to be the same every time. The kids didn't like this app much, they like Super Dreidel because they can enter their names into it.

Not sure why you'd buy this app when there are free ones that do the same thing.

Love the modern take on a Hanukkah tradition!
